SynopsisWho says panto can’t be bubbling to the brim with girl power ! Sleeping Beauty is one of the most enchanting and mysterious fairy tales. This take on the story transforms it into a brilliantly magical pantomime with a spirited girl hero taking centre stage as well as several other fantastic parts for women. Nasty Fairy Nightshade lurks in her cobwebbed cave miffed that she’s not been invited to the Royal Christening. Not one to let things lie, she decides to gate crash the party of the century with a diabolically evil gift. A curse for the Princess Rose. Thankfully Roses three Fairy Godmother’s thwart Nighshade’s spell and make sure charming Prince Benjy is around to save the day. But what happens after the Sleeping Beauty is awakened by true loves kiss? Well Nightshade’s soon on the warpath again. She decides to exact a malevolent revenge by transforming our bonny Prince Benjy into one of her brutish gargoyle henchmen. So it’s down to Rose to pick up her sword, do the really hard work and go to the rescue. And she can’t wait to swing into action! Along the way all the pantomime favourites join Princess Rose in her adventures. Her Mum Queen Nellie an outrageously glamorous dame. Her daft Dad King Gubbins and Harvey his bugle blowing Herald. And her best pal Pickles the lovable court jester. With all the routines, comedy and adventure you could wish for this script offers a traditional rip-roaring spectacular for the entire family. |
