“… an outrageously witty script… yet what makes this piece so special is his ability to combine the hilarious with the beautiful… a captivating show….a winner of a production.” (

Comedy Play: 'Lucky Numbers' by Mike Yeaman

Nana is losing control – of her mind and her life. Forced to live with her daughter Janice and her feckless family, Nana is frustrated with how they live.

When her winning numbers come up on the Lotto, the family are ecstatic – until it becomes clear that Nana won’t disclose the ticket’s whereabouts – if she even knows herself, or bought it in the first place. She wants changes made around the place before the family will get a share of the jackpot.

When all searching proves fruitless, Janice decides the family need to transform themselves into model individuals until Nana is convinced. Layabout husband Ronnie will have to don a suit and pretend he has a proper job and overweight teenager Steven is going to have to look more active. Goth granddaughter Lisa will also need to meet Nana’s approval.

She’s also determined Mick doesn’t find out about the ticket – otherwise she’ll never get rid of him.Janice’s attempts to shake off a misjudged secret fling with Ronnie’s best mate Mick are hampered when Ronnie allows him to stay after his wife threw him out.Her attempts to transform herself into someone who shops at Dorothy Perkins are complicated by the arrival of Shane, her punk biker ex who recently dumped her. Eager to win him back, she must engineer some quick changes to keep up her two identities.

Shane’s attempts at a kitchen repair lead to a series of plumbing disasters and when the ticket is eventually found, Mick tries to steal it during the chaos. However, a massive fight breaks out when Ronnie discovers his affair with Janice. This fast-paced comedy builds into farce in as everyone tries to find the ticket before it expires – while keeping up all kinds of facades. Whilst the audience know the ticket’s whereabouts, the characters are oblivious as it accidentally changes hands several times.

Hopes of claiming the prize are dashed again in a series of twists and when Nana suddenly takes seriously ill, the mood changes. A bittersweet denouement brings some tears as well as big laughs as the play ends.
