Seance For Murder

    by Angela Lanyon

Synopsis

Alice is all for a quiet life but when Evelyn asks her to hold a séance in order to contact her dead husband, she gets more interference than she bargained for. Alice’s neighbour, Roger, doesn’t believe in ghosts and neither does Evelyn’s daughter, Lizzie.

Joining the group round the table are Lizzie’s put-upon boyfriend, Charles, and Alice’s neurotic old friend, Joyce and her Council official husband, Keith. When Keith parks his car on Roger’s grass verge, he gate-crashes the party and tempers explode. Old resentments get aired and before the séance finally gets underway it is clear that one of the group is determined to upset the proceedings.

Are 'Bin Wars' the cause of the trouble, or is it more sinister? When Keith is found dead is the death an accident? Back from the hospital the arguments and accusations continue. What happened to Joyce’s missing rings? Does Lizzie want Roger’s bungalow?

One by one, lies are uncovered, motives come to life and the truth is revealed when Joyce confesses she replaced her sweeteners with sleeping pills and encouraged Keith to use them in his coffee, then finished him off with one of Alice’s cushions.
