Twinkle Little Star

Synopsis

Douglas Mounce in 'Twinkle Little Star' by Philip Meeks‘Twinkle Little Star’ is a one man revenger’s comedy chronicling a forgotten history and a dying art. Underneath the stage Harold Thropp lays out the tools of his art in a dingy dressing room with creaking pipes and no natural light. A well worn pair of tights. Stolid black boots. Ancient sticks of grease paint and setting powder. A moth-eaten black wig fraying round the mesh.

For decades Harold has lived his life in tune with seasons of pantomime, as a doyen of the pantomime dame. One of the last of a dying breed Harold may be feeling his age but he’s resisting changes to the world he loves with a vengeance. As he prepares once again to revive his favourite character Widow Twankey, he’s decided to make the ultimate stand against his nemesis, a smug reality television star called Jez.

As Harold starts to become the Widow his tragic secrets unfold and we discover startling truth behind the dark act he’s preparing to commit.
