Meeks, Philip

Philip Meeks

Philip Meeks

In 2019 Philip celebrated his decade as a pantomime dame becoming one of the most in demand dames in the UK appearing with, among others, the Chuckle Brothers, Su Pollard, 'Benidorm' star Janine Duvitski, 'Neighbours' legend Mark Little, and Linda Lusardi.

He has written pantomimes professionally for twenty years and is delighted that his scripts have been licensed and performed around the world for amateur groups over the last few years.  His scripts are traditional with a modern twist, featuring plenty of roles  (always strong roles for women) and some refreshing takes on the well- loved stories. He still writes scripts for professional performance and recently joined the writing team of Imagine Theatre, one of the biggest and most successful pantomime producers in the UK.

As well as his pantomimes, his one man play about a pantomime dame 'Twinkle' is also available to be licensed by Stagescripts.

As a playwright Philip’s credits include 'Murder Margaret and Me' which recently has had successful productions at York Theatre Royal and Salisbury Playhouse, 'Edith in the Dark' which had two sell out runs at Harrogate Theatre and 'Harpy' which was hit at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 starring Su Pollard and tours nationally later in 2019.

In television Philip spent several years as part of the writing team of 'Emmerdale', and he now writes plays regularly for Radio 4.
