Pint-Sized Plays

Since Pint-Sized Plays began in 2008 it has grown to become one of the foremost international writing competitions for short plays.

Winning plays are performed in selected pubs in Pembrokeshire, Wales and the six winning entries and four runners up then go on to be performed at our Script Slam at Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard where the audience get to vote for their favourite script and the winner walks away with the coveted Pint-Pot Award (with a Half-Pint for the runner up).  On top of that all ten plays will be considered for publication in our script books.

All the plays can be very simply staged (they were, after all, originally written to be performed in pubs) with no more than three characters and generally lasting for no more than ten minutes.

As such they are suitable for performance by both professional and non-professional theatre companies, both in and out of pubs, to be performed individually or as several grouped together to make up a full evening's entertainment. They are also ideal for use by schools, colleges and drama schools, and in similar situations where their short length allows students to develop characterisation and develop their acting or directing skills through working on a complete, self-contained, play.

For most of the plays, purchase of the script books entitles you to perform the plays with no royalties payable when no ticket price is charged. If performing for a paying audience then a royalty of £5.50 per play per performance is payable. Some plays are subject to other licensing arrangements.
