SynopsisWealthy East-Ender Joey and his much younger wife Bianca live in an expensive villa on the Costa del Sol, surrounded by servants and other staff. They seem to have the perfect life. But as the story unfolds, some unsettling questions arise. Why can't Joey go back to England, where most of his business interests still lie? Why is he so obsessed about security? Why, come to that, does Bianca keep going on about contract killers? And when it comes to the crunch, how far can husband and wife trust each other? Forced into living and relaxing day after day in the same places, filling their days with the same banal routines, their personal habits, their little 'quirks', begin to seriously grate on each other. Bianca's 'innocent' chatter about Raoul at the Golf Club starts to make Joey jealous, but he has bigger things on his mind as he tries to master-mind a robbery back in the UK remotely from Spain. Bianca appears also to be in touch with the UK muscle men, especially Skyler, Joey's (young and attractive) second-in-command - whatever could she be cooking up? ‘Quirks’ was produced as a Radio 4 Afternoon Play with David Troughton as Joey |
