Shari Gledhill |
Shari lives in Scarborough, North Yorkshire and has been writing plays for over 25 years. She studied theatre at University whilst training as a primary school teacher. She is a co-director of Scarborough drama company Bananadrama, a group committed to producing high quality original theatre. Shari’s plays have had success at several drama festivals throughout the North East, winning awards for writing, acting and directing. Shari was the first ever recipient of the Russell Whitely Award for New Writing at Sedgefield Drama Festival in 2018. Shari’s plays have also received several commendations from the Geoffrey Whitworth Playwriting Competition Shari’s plays have been performed all around the UK and even as far as Australia. She has also devised and directed plays for children as well as organising drama workshops for children around North Yorkshire. Shari will occasionally turn her hand at treading the boards herself. In addition to writing stage plays, Shari has created short films and radio plays, some which have been played on local radio. The local arts community in Scarborough is very important to Shari, and she finds forging links with other groups, writers and arts venues very satisfying. |
