Synopsis
A decrepit Narrator introduces the story and re-appears at various times to link the scenes. Henry and Mortimer decide it’s time for another adventure. Henry has heard of a fabulous dish called Poy, which can only be found on one remote island. Henry’s long-suffering wife Henrietta is dismissive of the thought of another expedition, citing a series of previous failures. However, Henry and Mortimer go to the harbour and encounter Captain Codfish, who is looking for some foolish adventurers to take on a voyage. He offers to take them to the island which serves Poy, for which he just happens to have a treasure map. Henrietta and Aurora decide to follow Henry, disguise themselves as men, and secretly board the vessel. Henry and Mortimer set sail with the Cap’n and feisty Barnacle the Mate, who to the surprise of Codfish happens to be a woman, while Henrietta and Aurora are hide below deck. The adventurers reach the island and encounter two strange islanders - who are Henrietta and Aurora in disguise. They are offered Poy – which Henrietta squashes in Henry’s face. She reveals that they’re not on a fabulous island at all but on the Isle of Wight. Mortimer proposes to Aurora, and the marriage ceremony is carried out by Cap’n Codfish. |
