A hilarious, fast-moving comedy. A dysfunctional working-class family run into difficulties when their daughter Roxanne decides to marry upper class Charles. The vicar calls to collect donations for the jumble sale to raise runs for and African water project and son Kevin gives away an old vase, not knowing that it contains the family savings. As the family gather around the TV for the lottery numbers it looks like their luck has changed when the pub syndicate wins the lottery, but whilst he collected the syndicate's stake money, Bob failed to buy a ticket! In desperation, the family embark on a night time robbery so that they can afford the wedding and pay back the syndicate. Disguised in knitted balaclavas they break in, but then they find a canoodling couple, are disturbed by the owners returning from holiday and the vicar turns up too! Fans of TV sitcoms such as Only Fools & Horses and The Royle Family will enjoy the real life humour of this play. The sequel is: 'Oh Comrade, What A Lovely Pair!' |
