SynopsisRadiodram is a comedy about a small Scottish radio station, based in a defunct distillery and the dedicated crew that 'man' the airways. In a remote Scottish coastal town, this smallest of radio stations was conceived many years ago to ‘preserve traditional Scottish music’, and ‘unite the Glens with a sense of community’, and is fiercely protected and governed by the Rev Douglas Balmacara, brother of the late founder. Angus, his nephew, longs to bring the station up to date, to maybe play songs other than traditional Scottish music, perhaps to even broadcast on the internet? But could such groundbreaking changes ever be made in this traditional deep-rooted community. Not yet, and certainly not by him. Then, for a financial incentive, Alex, a work-experience placement arrives from Strathclyde University, and instantly sets the cat amongst the pigeons. Modern, English, and worse… a woman! Will the airwaves ever be the same again? Callum, the local Gravedigger and coffin-carrier, Duncan, the nighttime disk-jockey now happily retired from a life on the oil-rigs and Angus, a little too excited by the presence of Alex, all have a hand to play in the future of the station, but is Radiodram really there to keep the airwaves humming? Or is it hiding a larger secret… |
