Wilkes, Nick

Nick Wilkes

Nick Wilkes

Nick trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has worked extensively in the theatre over the past two decades. He has appeared in over ninety productions both in the UK and overseas in classical and contemporary drama, musical, pantomime and weekly rep, working alongside names as diverse as Charlton Heston and Simon Callow through to Keith Harris and Orville the Duck!

Nick was the first Writer in Residence at Malvern Theatres since George Bernard Shaw and has written and produced twenty-four of his own plays to date, many of which are published. All of these works have been produced through Nick’s own theatre company Malvernbard and have played in many venues around the country, from small studio theatres and larger theatres to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford upon Avon.

Nick is an all-round theatre chap and has worked as an actor, writer, director, designer, producer, stage manager, adjudicator, teacher, public speaker, crewman, flyman, house manager, projectionist, van driver and stage sweeper.

He is also proud to be a fundraise for several charities, amongst them the NSPCC, Children’s Hospice South West, Food Cycle, Help for Heroes and the Clean Up Britain campaign.

He lives in Malvern with his wife and three children.

Also: Nick is the youngest and tallest of three brothers Wilkes. He was born on Burns Night, which may be a contributing factor to his fascination with Scottish water. Nick has walked the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall, from coast to coast, twice. Within his family tree are Bob Champion (jockey), Cary Grant (actor) and Sir Francis Drake (pirate)!

In a former life he was a foreign exchange cashier for Thomas Cook, and travelled the world dealing with large amounts of currency. Since becoming an actor he has seen very little cash of any description.
